As I worked on the first homework assignment I began to see flaws in what I wrote above.First there is the issue of designing instruction for intrinsic motivation. How do you do that? How do you know that intrinsic motivation is occurring? Then how does such instruction affect creativity How do you measure such effect Do you test two groups - one using extrinsic rewards and one using intrinsic? How do you determine base levels of creativity (if there is such a thing)?
The first semester I was told not to worry about being too broad, now I feel like I am being pushed to narrow narrow narrow. It's a whole different mindset, that is taking some getting used to.
Today I worked on the actual research problem to be used in this class. I am not 100% sure it is a dissertation, partly because I think it is a bit too narrow. I see it more as part of a bigger topic, more geared in the research area of creativity and creativity training.
In this blog I plan on having separate pages.
This page is for the journaling part.
There will be pages for:
References, where I will add to my list of articles and books to read
Journal Articles, where I could record my summaries of articles
Home page, for quotes
Dissertation ideas, a running list of ideas, they might not be all for a dissertation, some just topics I am interested in learning more about
and other pages that I will add if necessary. As a side note, I really am interested in this Maker Movement, and wonder how it could be connected to my other interests.
